Anyone who works in frontline security related employments or teaches/instructs personal safety subjects and skills will benefit much from this interesting and unique training course.
Please note: This is the only recognised and formally accredited course of its kind in the world. Duration This course is conducted over a 4½ hour period and consists of factual based presentations and group work.

Assessment Process
Each student will undertake two simple confirmation assessments, one written (10 questions) and one multiple choice (10 questions). The trainer will also assess each student’s progress during the course.
Qualification
An approved ‘Skills for Security’ certificate in Basic Weapons Awareness and Recognition training will be awarded to successful students undertaking this course. Students will also receive documentation detailing the course content.

BACK TO COURSES MENU BTEC Level 2 Intermediate Award - Breakaway & Self-Defence Introduction
This course is of great value to those who work in environments which bring them into direct contact with customers and the general public and therefore might be at risk from random acts of violence. There has never been a better time to learn how to defend oneself than there is in today’s present climate of rising violent crime.
Please note: This is the only recognised and formally accredited course of its kind available in the UK. Duration This 1 day course consists of physical skills training and factual based presentations.

BACK TO COURSES MENU BTEC Level 2 Intermediate Award - Physical Restraint Practise Introduction
This course is of great value to those who work in environments which might require them to safely and effectively restrain non-compliant or violent individuals. The larger percentage of those who are placed in charge of non-compliant or violent individuals are more often and not reluctant to employ physical intervention (restraint) methods. Therefore, this course has been specifically designed to furnish those undertaking instruction with the appropriate methods and knowledge relating to safe physical intervention procedures. Duration This 3 day course consists of physical skills training and factual based presentations.

- Explore the requirements of the Human Rights Act 1998 - physical restraint related
- Health & Safety stature and associated regulations - physical restraint related
- Evaluate risks & explore how to reduce these - physical restraint related
- Relevant acts of Parliament & other organisations in relation to vulnerable individuals
- Explore the risks of associated alcohol, drugs & edged weapons - physical restraint related
- Understand & define the difference between escorting, holding & restraint
- Non-harmful methods of restraint including seated restraint techniques
- Difference between non-harmful & more restrictive appropriate methods of restraint
- De-escalation & relaxed restraint techniques.

Muggings, rapes, attacks on people in their own homes, violent assaults against others on public transport and on the high street have unfortunately become everyday occurrences across the UK. In a society where violence against others is almost a daily topic of conversation for media there has never been a better time than now for everyone to undergo self-defence training. Duration 2 hours - an introduction to self-defence training. It is strongly advised that continuation training is sought by those requesting instruction so that they can become proficient and confident through repetition training in regards to the initial physical skills and protocols they have been introduced to.

Lone workers, those in higher education and anyone else who wishes to learn how to defend their self against various types of physical assault. BACK TO COURSES MENU Personal Security Training Introduction
Personal security is probably more important than self-defence because in reality it is our first line of defence i.e. prevention. If we can master and practise subconsciously the basic principles of personal security we then avoid taking unnecessary risks within society. If we employ common sense in regards to our actions on a daily basis, in turn we then limit the possibility of having to employ self-defence measures. Personal security is predominately about prevention whereas self-defence is primarily about cure and therefore prevention is certainly better than cure! Duration 1 hour or 2 hours - an introduction to personal security training. A 2 hours workshop (1 hour presentation and 1 hour practical session) can be arranged and the content of which will be tailored to those requesting specific advice. This course is predominately presentation based and therefore there is no assessment.
Qualification A TSDT certificate of attendance will be given to each course candidate. Those in attendance will also receive advice regarding where to purchase personal safety products and related items from.

BACK TO COURSES MENU Edged Weapons Awareness Training
Introduction
It seems that almost every day in one national newspaper or another or on the evening news there is reference to someone being attacked by an edged weapon assailant. In an age where you are more likely to be killed by an edged weapon assailant than you are by someone firing a handgun at you, now is the time to undergo defence against edged weapons training. Duration 1 hour edged weapons presentation or a 2 hours introduction to defence against edged weapons workshop. It is strongly advised that continuation training is sought by those requesting instruction so that they can become proficient and confident through repetition training in regards to the initial physical skills and protocols they have been introduced to. Also, a one day course (6 hours) is available; this is the most comprehensive course of its kind in the UK today! Course Loading - A minimum of 6 students: Colchester area
